I am so excited to see this shift coming about in education. I have always been passionate about making sure each student gets their individual needs met, but in the current educational system it has always been a struggle to reach all students in their learning styles and individual educational needs. Thank you so much for writing this article. I will researching PBL further.

I homeschool my 5 yo son! This was a great post. We do a lot of PBL allowing for rabbit trails and diving in deep with subjects that he is really into. I was homeschooled myself from 6th grade on through graduating and my mom structured our schooling like this as well. I firmly believe that giving a child an active role in their education is the key to raising lifelong learners, not just ones that do what they can to get by for the tests and forgetting the information after.

This is amazing to hear Desiree! I agree completely; an active role will not only translate to higher academic success, but meaningful and powerful lessons they will take with them for the rest of their lives! Thank you so much for commenting and your son is lucky to have you mama! Keep up the fantastic work!

I love Project Based Learning. We haven’t had as many opportunities to use it here in some Australian schools (I’m a teacher), but we’ve been working on building this process up, slowly and surely. Thanks for sharing your experiences and passion Mary!

It’s amazing how students can truly maximize their learning with PBLs approach to teaching students to critically think about the topics. Their enduring understandings are rich with facts as well as applicable knowledge. Thanks for your comment!!
