I just recently read this book and loved it. I plan to also feature it later for #DiverseKidLit. 🙂 What a wonderful interview. I enjoyed the insight and Monica’s words. This book is needed.

    I’m a new participant for #DiverseKidLit. 🙂

It’s SO needed. Agreed. Monica is the best; so thoughtful and so committed to telling the stories that NEED to be told.

This is such an important story to share with our kids! Children need to know that they can make a difference at any age! You don’t have to be an adult to be heard or to change the world!

What an important story to learn about. Our children need to know history-good, bad, ugly, and hard-so they can understand how different (or similar) experiences of others have been to our own, to learn from mistakes (know better, do better), and to see that children can do important things and make a difference.

Could not agree more Ali! So many important conversations are happening with families and in classrooms because of books like this.

Books create empathy for people and places different from the reader’s POV.

Agreed Manju! Our most powerful weapon is an education as Nelson Mandela so aptly said.
