This is such a fabulous list of books! I am a mom of two boys, and I am currently compiling a list of diverse and multicultural books to add to our library at home. I also believe it is important not only to show our daughters powerful, inspiring, and strong women of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds but to also send these messages to our boys as well! What an inspiring post, and such a great resource for me. I hope to raise compassionate, empathetic, kind, and generous boys, and I know your blog will help us with that! Thanks so much for the wonderful information.

Thank you so much Ashley! This is music to my ears!! We need boys to fall in love with strong female characters too! So crucial as you said for raising kind and empathetic boys!! Happy reading and hope to hear back from you often!

This is a wonderful selection of books. Please consider adding The Juniper Sawfather Novels, a YA trilogy that begins with the award-winning book Cry of the Sea. This series features a teen who is half American Indian. Her parents are environmental activists, and she discovers mythical creatures during her efforts to protect the natural world. Thank you for this list! Some of the books are old favorites of mine, but there are plenty that are new to me. And they all look wonderful.

Awesome list! My mom always made sure I had books with strong female protagonists who looked like me growing up and I am so much better off for it. This list makes me want to have a little girl so bad to share these with her.
