7 Reasons We Love Wonder Woman
Have you been swept away this week by the Wonder Woman craze like the rest of the world? A superhero so amazing that boys and girls alike want to be like her; count me in! The global impact this (SH)ero is making on little boys and girls is breathtaking. Here are 7 reasons we love Wonder Woman and believe she is a kindred spirit to our awesome tribe here!

7 Reasons We Love Wonder Woman
1. She is a global citizen.
Wonder Woman travels the world to teach others about empathy and tolerance. Her overarching goal is to aid a humanity destined to destroy itself. Wonder Woman’s true super power is her empathy. I think we can all agree that our current world desperately needs this kind of heroism!
If you were on Twitter this week, you may have seen Gal Gadot herself respond to the reactions of kids to her movie. A group of Kindergarten students gave their reactions and it could not have been more inspiring! Read here for tips on how to raise global citizens!
2. She reads. A lot.
In one scene, Wonder Woman is shown reading Sumerian which is the first known written language. Anyone who had mastered Sumerian by the early 20th century would have been among a very elite group of scholars. I can say with confidence that Wonder Woman has dedicated herself to life long learning.

3. She speaks ALL the languages.
The term for her power to speak every language is omnilingualism. This power is so rare that even the word is uncommon (and will show up red in spell check). It is most convenient in most superhero stories that everyone speaks English. Wonder Woman has the ability to travel all over the world and connect with people in their native tongue; a most admirable quality indeed.
4. She is a true leader.
With her god-given leadership abilities and talents, she could easily charge ahead and leave others behind. A true leader knows how to cultivate relationships with their followers. I love how she is strong enough alone and doesn’t “need” anyone, but always takes on allies because she cares about bringing out the best in others.
This is a perfect illustration of of our relationships with our children. We let them sweep or read the bedtime story because we love sharing experiences with them. In turn, this teaches them self-reliance.
5. She has life experience.
Let me step out of the “Wonder Woman” box for just one point and point out how Gal Gadot is as a real human being. Gadot is Israeli (despite the haters on social media saying she is not a POC); after growing up in a small town, she became a model (2004 Miss Israel contest), but then served 2 years in the Israeli Defense Forces as a combat trainer. Gadot went on to study law and international relations. She is multilingual and she was 5 months pregnant while she was shooting the Wonder Woman film.
She’s an actress, model, veteran, businesswoman, mother, wife and all around wondrous woman. Read HERE how Israel is embracing their homegrown hero and now international celebrity!
6. She sets goals and accomplishes them.
We are halfway through 2017 and I do not know about you, but I look at my list for the year and I have a long way to go. However, Wonder Woman shows us all that our dream journey IS in fact possible. Our goals are attainable and NO ONE and NOTHING can stop you if you believe in yourself.
7. Both genders relate to her.
Boys and girls are seeing the value of her character. She is not seen for her gender, but as someone who is worthy of being looked up to. Period. Children need to have mentors and heroes and Wonder Woman is a great place to start for any of our littles.

I love this! My seven-year-old daughter has been talking to me a lot recently about how boys at school say girls don’t have muscles and aren’t strong. Er… check out wonder woman! We’ve talked about what it means to be strong in all ways, including being confident in your own abilities 🙂

I loved Wonder Woman as a kid and I adored the new movie. I agree whole heartedly with everything you said! I also think Wonder Woman is awesome because she admits that love rules.

I’m not much of a comic book fan, so I learned a little bit from reading this!
